The Many Benefits of Cosmetic Acupuncture

Facial acupuncture addresses your skin’s overall health by improving blood flow to your face and stimulating your body’s ability to produce collagen and elastin.

Research supports improved facial elasticity as well as many other benefits, including:

  • Minimizes the appearance of fine wrinkles
  • Gently lifts and tones
  • Reduces “double chin”
  • Smoother texture
  • Decreases puffiness
  • Increases elasticity

Patients feel relaxed during treatments, which help improve blood circulation and help tonify any area on your face that might be experiencing stress-related inflammation or redness.

When to Consider Facial Acupuncture

Most patients who book facial cosmetic acupuncture aren’t trying to look 20 again. They just want skin that reflects how they actually feel: rested, healthy, and alive.

If you…

  • Have been quietly looking at Botox or fillers and thinking not quite for me.
  • Are breastfeeding, pregnant, or planning to be and you want a treatment you don’t have to second-guess
  • Reacted badly to injectables, chemical fillers, or topical products in the past
  • Would rather see a gradual result that builds over weeks than a sudden change that wears off.
  • Are looking for a treatment that improves how your skin functions

Then let’s have a conversation about the treatment options available to you.

What to Expect (and How We Approach It Differently)

Your Initial Assessment

At Oaktree, Veronique looks at your overall health and whole body: how you’re sleeping, where you’re holding stress, and what your nervous system is doing, because all of it shows up in your skin. A face that looks tired is often attached to a body that’s been running on empty for a while. That’s why your first appointment is a real consultation, not a quick intake form.  First appointment lasts about 75 minutes.

What It’s Like

A standard treatment includes facial needling, body needling at supporting points, facial cupping or gua sha where appropriate, red-light (Celluma LED) therapy, and finishing with facial acupressure massage.

Other health concerns may be treated simultaneously as TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) like acupuncture treats your body as a whole.

Treatment Plan

Cosmetic acupuncture is a series, not a single appointment. Most treatment plan recommendations are between 6 to 12 treatments. Some patients may see minor benefits in the first few treatments. For optimal results, weekly treatments for 8-10 weeks is recommended followed by regular maintenance (once every 4-8 weeks).

The effectiveness of facial rejuvenation acupuncture can be optimized with proper skin care, diet and nutritional supplements.

Ready to have your skin look healthier?

Your first appointment includes a full consultation with Veronique. By the end of that visit, you’ll have a clear picture of what a treatment course would look like for you and whether it’s worth committing to.

Common Questions

Many patients notice subtle changes (skin tone, brightness, or how rested they look) within the first three to four sessions. More noticeable changes build over the full course. Results continue to develop for several weeks after treatments end.

Yes. Veronique can adjust the treatment based on where you are in pregnancy or postpartum. This is one of the most common reasons patients choose acupuncture over injectables during this stage of life.

It’s a different kind of treatment, not a direct substitute. Botox and fillers produce a faster, more dramatic change that wears off in a few months. Cosmetic acupuncture works gradually, supports your skin’s underlying function, and the results build with consistency. Most patients who come to us are looking specifically for something injectable-free.

The biggest difference is that you’re being treated by a Registered Acupuncturist, not an aesthetician. Veronique takes a full health history, treats body points alongside facial points, and adjusts her protocol based on what your system actually needs that day. It’s a longer, more thorough session that’s closer to a medical treatment than a spa service.

Cosmetic acupuncture isn’t the right starting point for active skin conditions more commonly treated by a dermatologist. We can talk during your consultation about whether a different approach makes more sense first.

Cosmetic acupuncture is available at Oaktree Health Orleans or Downtown Ottawa, with Veronique Savoie, R.Ac.

It is not currently offered at our Stittsville location.
