How you might respond after acupuncture…

After a session you may experience a feeling of deepening peace and relaxation. This relaxed feeling may last for the rest of the day or week and may lead to a deep night’s sleep. Others have at times felt a warm feeling flowing to various parts of their bodies and some feel very energetic and do all their chores or business that day with renewed vitality.

Peace & Relaxation

After a session you may experience a feeling of deepening peace and relaxation. This relaxed feeling may last for the rest of the day or week and may lead to deep, refreshing sleep. Others have at times felt a warm feeling flowing to various parts of their bodies that’s very soothing. Some feel very energetic and do all their chores or business that day with a light, happy feeling.

Relief of Symptoms

Some may find that their symptoms have begun to disappear, that the problems that they came to Martin for have begun to lessen after the first visit. There are also some people who feel no difference after their session. That does not mean that they are not benefiting from their acupuncture session, it just means that they’re not feeling any external response.

Acupuncture Responses

Other people, usually a small minority, experience discomfort, muscle soreness, a headache or even some pain after a treatment.

What Causes Acupuncture Responses?
  • You may be experiencing a detoxification or cleansing of your body after acupuncture. When toxins leave the system, there may be discomfort such as headache, sniffles, a slight fever, strong feeling of drowsiness, lethargy or similar reactions. If these detoxification symptoms ever become pronounced, please give the clinic a call. Martin may suggest you come in sooner for your next treatment.
  • The muscles are realigning after the acupuncture session. Often these are muscles that haven’t worked properly for years and may be in a weakened state. Now that the muscles are working again they may become sore. This condition is temporary and will soon disappear after the muscles have strengthened themselves.
  • Some people are in such good general health that they may feel no different, while others may feel no different for the opposite reason. That is, that they are so ill that they have lost sensitivity to their body.

Fortunately, even those experiencing any of these first-time responses to the acupuncture later enjoy the feeling of well-being that usually accompanies after a short period of time.
