Let me introduce myself, my name is Dr. Emilie, and I’m a family wellness Doctor of Chiropractic in Ottawa.

I’m a small-town French girl from Penetang, who later moved to Ottawa for university, then headed to Toronto for post-graduate Chiropractic school. To get to know me better, here are three things that I really like (other than my husband Martin, and my kids Ori Ani and Nico, of course!): I love to read, I’m crazy about chocolate and I love being around kids; especially when they’re getting healthier naturally!

Many chiropractic patients have a miracle story about chiropractic. Mine is different – my story started when my mom started bringing me to a chiropractor when I was 3 years old! When my mom was pregnant with one of my brothers, she quickly gained 50 lbs, all in her belly. It literally looked like she had a watermelon under her shirt. Not surprisingly, she began experiencing severe back pain. She started seeing a chiropractor and had such great results that she decided to bring the whole family in for check-ups. From then on, myself, my three brothers, and my mom went to the chiropractor regularly for wellness care. I feel blessed that my mom learned about the importance of chiropractic early on. “As the twig is bent, so grows the tree.”

When it came time to choose a career – it was a natural choice. I wanted to help people be healthy, and stay healthy through chiropractic. My mission now is to help other families achieve total health so they can live life to their full potential. It’s strange how life is, because now people come to see me for pregnancy care and family chiropractic. Also they come to me with their headaches, migraines, chronic pain, neck pain, shoulder/arm pain, whiplash from car accidents, ear infections, asthma, allergies, numbness in limbs, athletic injuries,…to name a few!

Our patients often thank us for “curing” them of their health problems. But I can’t really take the credit. What I do is perform a specific spinal adjustment to remove nerve pressure, and the body responds by healing itself. We get tremendous results – it’s as simple as that!!

My qualifications – I’m a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College with a Dean’s Honours List Bachelor of Science degree. I also attend postgraduate seminars constantly to stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and research. Through additional study, I attained a certification from the Academy of Family Practice and Council on Chiropractic Pediatrics. I’ve been entrusted to take care of tiny babies to high level athletes to seniors – and I’d be happy to take care of you!

My team and I are here to help families achieve better health naturally.

God bless,

Dr. Emilie Perras, D.C., B.Sc.

Martin Michel Perras

Owner/ Founder Acupuncturist & TCM Practitioner Downtown

Bonjour! My name is Martin Perras (yes that is French Canadian last name!) and I am a Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner and acupuncturist. I am very blessed to be the co-owner of Oaktree Chiropractic, Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine – one of busiest clinics in Canada.

I have three gorgeous (and active!) kids and an amazing wife, Dr. Emilie (Chiropractor) who is my partner in all that I do. I strive to find room in my life for the things that feed my soul like spending time in nature, running, and making my family’s nutrition a high priority by ensuring that we choose good quality, mostly organic, whole foods based meals. But it’s tough! I often struggle with balancing getting enough sleep with accomplishing all I want to do in a day. I get tired and all I want to do it eat chips and watch Netflix. But long ago, I made the decision to learn to play full out, be “all in” and to have the life that I know that I am meant to have. I want a life full of joy, energy and the strength to go after my dreams and CREATE the life I want for myself and my family. And I am passionate about helping people heal, remember what life is like without pain and learn to live life to the fullest too!

But getting to this point has been a gradual process. My life wasn’t always centered around healing like it is now. At the age of 25, I had hit the jack pot. I was the owner of a very successful company and I had clients all over Canada and the US, including companies like Microsoft, Coke, Boeing, Ford and many more Fortune 500 companies. I had great employees and life was good. Business was amazing, yet something was missing.

My fire was slowly dimming; I wanted a career that was more about serving and helping people. I decided to sell it all and look for a career with new meaning. With the influence of my beautiful and brilliant wife, I started to look into health care, as I had always been very passionate about health. After careful consideration, I chose to study Chinese Medicine because of the principles, the beliefs and the depth of what it offers.

Chinese Medicine is all about prevention – a principle which is very important to me. There was a time in China where the Chinese Medicine practitioners would only get rewarded financially when their patients were healthy. This encouraged them to focus on getting the patients well and then keeping them well through prevention.

Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine has healed people for over 3000 years. I’m excited about what acupuncture offers with a holistic approach: mind, body, and soul. It can help with a wide variety of physical and emotional conditions such as: Addictions, Arthritis, Cancer, Depression/Anxiety, Diabetes, Digestive Issues, Headaches, Heart Disease, High blood pressure, Fatigue, Fertility, Menopause and Weight loss. Ask me how it can help you!

God bless,

Martin Michel Perras, R. TCMP

Chiropractor Orleans

Hello! My name is Dr. Katrina Greer. I was born and raised in the small town of Kemptville, just outside of Ottawa.

My chiropractic story started a long time ago. Before I was born, my dad sought chiropractic care to correct postural issues. After realizing the vast benefits of chiropractic care, he decided to introduce my brother and I to chiropractic when we were born. I had my first adjustment at only 2 weeks old! Receiving chiropractic adjustments became an integral part of a healthy lifestyle for our family.

Looking back, I am grateful for my father’s insight. I started karate at age nine and loved it so much I pursued it all the way to Canada’s National Team. There were too many instances to count where I was happy my chiropractor would be there to adjust me after training and competitions!

Practicing within the philosophy of martial arts, I became dedicated to becoming the best version of myself, and devoted to helping others do the same. Achieving my black belt meant that I was finally a Sensei, translated from Japanese into “teacher” or “doctor”. A career in chiropractic, where I would be fortunate enough to educate and heal others, slowly became the natural path for me.

While completing my studies, first in Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa, and then at Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, I remained active as a kickboxing instructor and helped fellow students as a peer tutor. I have been fortunate to work with patients ranging from infants to athletes, and those with special needs or more complex pain presentations.

I am certified in the Webster technique and am constantly pursuing continuing education around pediatric and perinatal care through the ICPA (International Chiropractic and Pediatric Association). I love working with moms, their kids and helping with recovery and function post-partum.

When I am not with family and friends, I can be found kickboxing, exploring nature, or out on the slopes. I love using my skills and passion for chiropractic care to reduce pain and disability, optimize function, and improve the quality of life of families in my community!

I’m looking forward to working with you!

Hannah Lohnes

Acupuncturist Orleans

Hello! My name is Hannah Lohnes and I am a Registered Acupuncturist. I grew up in a small community near Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. In 2009 I moved to Ottawa to study at the University of Ottawa where I completed a 4-year Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences.

After finishing my undergraduate degree, I had to figure out what was next. And to be very honest, I wasn’t sure what that was! I did know I wanted to do something in healthcare.

Many Acupuncturists will tell you that they became interested in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) through personal experience, or having someone close to them with a positive experience. This however, is not my case. I had never had acupuncture, nor had any of my friends or family try it. In fact, it was a well known fact that I was terrified of needles (luckily I quickly learned how thin acupuncture needles are compared to needles you’ll find in a doctor’s office!). But I was curious. I had to drive by a Chinese Medicine school every day to get to work. It was as simple as that. Curiosity! Within 4 days of walking into the school to inquire about their programs I was sitting in class, and my curiosity continued to grow.

Since finishing school I have gained valuable training with an amazing mentor and friend, worked in a clinic specializing in cancer and acupuncture and have started teaching at the school from which I graduated.

The human body has amazing innate powers including the ability to heal itself. Sometimes it just needs a little encouragement and coaching! I love that Acupuncture and TCM considers the patient from a holistic perspective, values the prevention of illness, and promotes healing in a natural way. It is truly amazing to be part of peoples’ path of health and wellness!

When I am not in clinic, teaching or studying, I continue to be curious and active! I enjoy activities such as hiking, dragon boating, kickboxing, salsa and indoor bouldering, and am always looking to try new things as well! Traveling is another passion of mine. Slowly but surely I hope to visit as many countries as possible.

I hope I have piqued your curiosity, and look forward to helping you!

Dr. Vanessa Jalbert-Caputo

Chriropractor Downtown

Hi everyone! My name is Dr.Vanessa Jalbert-Caputo, known as Dr.Vanessa, and I am excited to join the Oaktree team as a family chiropractor.

I was born in Sault Ste-Marie and raised in Sudbury, Ontario where I began my studies. During my high school years, I quickly realized that I have a huge passion for health, fitness, and nutrition and that I wanted to help people live a healthy lifestyle.

At the age of 11, my sister was diagnosed with scoliosis, which brought my family to a chiropractic office. During that first visit I learned what chiropractic truly was and how the nervous system controls and coordinates every single thing that happens in the body. I knew right then and there that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I started shadowing chiropractic offices and watched as lives were being transformed every single day. And so began my interest in chiropractic care.

I attended Laurentian University studying Promotion de la Santé where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education. After graduation I took a leap of faith, packed up my entire life and moved to Port Orange, Florida where I studied at Palmer College of Chiropractic. Yes, I definitely made the right choice to escape the cold winters and study in the sunshine state! Once I graduated I wasn’t ready to bear the cold just yet and accepted an amazing chiropractic position in Tampa, Florida, where I specialized in structural correction chiropractic care overseeing the care of patients from only a few hours old to the age of 94. It was during my first year practicing in Tampa that I realized my heart was still in Canada. My family and friends are the biggest part of my life which is why I decided to move back to Canada and join Oaktree. If I am not in the office you can find me in the gym, exploring the city, or spending time with my friends and family.

I see my patients as an entire being, not a symptom. By taking pressure off of the nervous system, the body is then capable of healing and functioning at 100%. I want my community to experience lifelong health and am committed to helping each patient achieve it. I look forward to becoming a part of your journey to health and wellness!

Chriropractor Downtown

Bonjour! My name is Dr. Marie-Pier Sauriol and I’m blessed to be one of the chiropractors at Oaktree.

Being the only daughter of a single mom in the military, I’ve had my fair share of moves. I was born in Quebec City but spent my early childhood in Borden, Ontario. I later moved to Cold Lake, Alberta, and then went to high school in Kingston, Ontario.

I was sixteen when I really started looking into what I wanted to do for a career. After many months of searching and shadowing many different people and careers, I decided I wanted to be a physiotherapist since I wanted to help people. From there, I went to the University of Alberta in Edmonton for a Bachelor in Kinesiology.

It was during my first year in undergrad that my mom and I went to a home show and stumbled upon a chiropractic booth. I had been experiencing several headaches per week since I was around 10 years old, and they were progressively getting worse. My mom suggested I go talk to the chiropractor. After getting checked out, it was determined that I was a good candidate and made an appointment. After just a month of care, my headaches were almost gone!

From that point on, I knew that chiropractic was going to be critical in my life. I started researching chiropractic and chiropractic schools, I made a few changes to the classes I was taking and I applied to New York Chiropractic College. Achieving a healthy lifestyle through natural care has become a great passion of mine!

If I am not at the clinic, I can be found doing yoga, walking with my mom and my dog, or reading a book in a comfy chair with one (or sometimes two) of my cats. I also love to crochet, but none of my pets like my hands doing anything but petting them – so sometimes it can be difficult to get projects done! I love to learn, and I look forward to continuing to grow in this path of natural healing.

I look forward to working with you!

Yours in health,

Dr.Marie-Pier Sauriol, D.C., B.P.S.
